Ah, Sikinos, a hidden gem of the Cyclades Archipelago, untouched by the crowds, and as wild and untamed as the mythical creatures that once roamed its hills. Imagine, if you will, the winds whispering ancient secrets through the valleys, the sun painting the cliffs in shades of gold, and the sea, a vast canvas of turquoise and sapphire, beckoning you to explore. This is Sikinos, a place where time moves at a slower pace, where the only rush you’ll feel is the thrill of the wind in your sails, and the gentle sway of your boat as you discover its hidden coves.

This is what sailors experienced:
We anchored at the harbour entrance in 4m of water with 30m of chain, even with 33 knots of meltemi wind. Holding was excellent. Ferries pass very close, within 50m of our stern, making it impossible to anchor another boat behind us. The tender can be easily launched and left at the dock without any issues.

This is what sailors experienced:
This anchorage offers a nice alternative to the crowded harbour, while still being a short dinghy ride away. Great snorkeling can be enjoyed here. Be sure to visit with northern winds, as it is exposed to swell from all directions except the northwest. Double-check your anchor placement as there is plenty of sand for good holding if you’re in the right spot. Note that the depths shown are inaccurate – it’s deeper than the charts indicate (I anchored in 9 meters).
