Sailing around Leros is like navigating through a mythical landscape—one moment you’re gliding past rugged cliffs, the next you’re anchored in a serene bay dotted with olive trees. Explore hidden coves, dive into crystal-clear waters teeming with marine life, and revel in the laid-back charm of Leros, a haven where time slows down and worries melt away like sea foam on the shore.

Leros Anchorages Overview

Leros Marina

Marina
This is what sailors experienced: Leros Marina is an excellent choice – we’re coming back for our third year and couldn’t be happier with our decision. The facilities and atmosphere at Leros Marina are top-notch. We’ve been happy to call it our base for the past three years.

Lakki Marina

Marina
This is what sailors experienced: We loved the peaceful atmosphere at Lakki Marina. It’s a small marina with friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The prices are reasonable, and the marina is well-protected from winds, with very little traffic. We appreciated that they provide two sturdy mooring lines for every boat. The only downside is that there are no restrooms or showers available on-site.

Merikia Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: While generally peaceful, the bay is used by ferries so expect some activity. Be aware of a shoal in the middle of the bay, but there’s still plenty of space to anchor in the sand.

Paralia Kokkina

Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced:
We found good anchor holding in the sand, although there were some areas of seaweed and some rocks. However, we experienced intense rocking from swells generated by either a ferry or fishing boat.

Ormos Gournes

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: Discover a hidden gem! This cove boasts a tranquil sandy bottom at 6m, providing a secluded haven for your boat. With no land access, it’s truly a peaceful retreat, offering a pristine beach of fine sand and sparkling clear waters. You’ll feel like you’ve stumbled upon a private island paradise.

Fakoudia North Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We anchored in 7m of water with 40m of chain, using a med moor to minimize swaying. The bottom is a mix of sand and seagrass, and the clear water made it easy to see our anchor.

Lerou Southern Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We were charmed by this beautiful, quiet bay! The anchorage is in 8m of water with a sand / seagrass bottom, providing good holding in the visible sand patches. It’s a tranquil spot to enjoy the peaceful beauty of the bay.

Lerou Eastern Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This large bay offers excellent anchorage on a sandy bottom with some patches of Posidonia. There are fish farms in the channel, so be mindful of their operations. The edges of the bay have rocks, making it difficult to put lines ashore except for the spur to the west leading to the smaller bay.

Artemis Boatyard

Boatyard
This is what sailors experienced: For any boat work needed in the Dodecanese, Artemis Boatyard is the go-to spot. They offer a wide range of services, from basic maintenance to major repairs.

Blefoutis Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We had a wonderful time spending two days anchored in this beautiful bay. Even with southerly winds, we found a great spot on a sandy patch and used 30m of chain to anchor on the southern side.

Kryfos Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: Explore this sheltered mini-baja, a hidden gem tucked away from the open water. The rocks offer the possibility to secure a line, and the pebble beach is a great spot to relax and enjoy the tranquility.

Vromolithos Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We anchored in the southeastern part of the bay, in 11m of water, on our second attempt. The anchorage wasn’t ideal, as it’s quite deep and has a lot of Posidonia. However, it’s easy to get ashore with a dinghy.

Xirokampos Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This is a comfortable and well-maintained bay with good anchorage. Be aware of several concrete blocks on the seabed, likely old mooring blocks. While a few buoys are available, they’re not always marked, except by bottles. On land, Aloni tavern offers delicious food and a warm welcome.
