Karpathos Marina

Marina

This is what sailors experienced:
The seabed is a tangled mess of chains and lines, making it a challenge to find a clear spot for your anchor. To avoid getting snagged, I opted for a different strategy. I secured a concrete block with a line, then attached a trip line to my anchor. This way, I could easily retrieve the anchor if it got caught. Yannis, the marina manager, is incredibly helpful and available at +306944886588.

Little Amoopi Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We dropped anchor in 6m of water, facing a strong NW wind that even gusted up to 35 knots. Amazingly, the sand held our anchor firm, and the boat stayed put despite the blustery conditions! It’s a truly peaceful spot, with crystal clear water and a lovely little beach just a short swim away.

Omros Markiyalos

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: Beware of the rocks in the south west. Good place even with strong winds. Lots of windsurfers!

Marina Finiki

Marina

This is what sailors experienced:
Nice harbour, romantic location, little space for yachts due to local boats, lots of lines in the water, no electricity, water on the quay, no fees. Clear water, swell from W to SW, rocks in the harbour, good anchor hold, moor with stern lines.

Sokastro Anchorage

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage offers a sandy bottom at 7m deep, nestled amidst lush meadows of posidonia. Holding is excellent. However, be aware that it’s open to the west and southwest, so you may experience some rolling if there’s a swell from those directions.

Tristoma Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This spot is a gem! It’s beautifully sheltered, making for a peaceful stay. At the end of the bay, you’ll find a dock for convenience. The entrance is narrow but deep, so be sure to navigate carefully.

Paralia Vananta

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage is a great option, located directly in front of the beach with the small church on your right. The sandy bottom continues out to about 7-8m deep, offering excellent anchor holding. Beyond that, the bottom transitions to a mix of sand and larger stones. You’ll find the best anchor holding on the sandy bottom at around 8m.

Diafani Port / Anchorage

Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced:
This is a lovely spot with good anchoring just off the southern beach, nestled between the harbour and the small pier. The bottom is all sand, making for excellent holding at around 5m deep. Just be mindful that there are some old moorings and chains located a bit north of the small pier.

Ópsi Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This spot is truly picturesque and wild! We anchored in 15m of sand, with the wind blowing from the northwest at 20 knots. Despite the strong winds, we experienced no swell, making for a surprisingly comfortable stay. It’s a reminder that even in wild locations, beauty and tranquility can be found.

Paralia Agios Minas

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage offers a sandy bottom with good holding at 6m deep. A welcoming tavern sits on the shore, perfect for enjoying a meal or a refreshing drink after a day on the water. However, be aware of three dangerous rocks located inside the inlet on the southwest side. Additionally, there are rocks and shallow waters jutting out from the northern cape, extending further into the open sea than indicated on the maps. Exercise caution when navigating these areas.

Agios Nikolaos

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This spot features two beautiful bays separated by a rocky outcrop. The bottom is a mix of sand patches, offering good anchoring. Be aware of the catabatic winds that can gust down from the mountains, so be prepared for some potential wind shifts. If you’re lucky, you might be able to moor alongside the small dock, if it’s not already occupied by fishing boats.
