Tzia Kea Port

Port

This is what sailors experienced:
This harbour offers excellent holding for your anchor, especially when using at least 50m of chain while backing into the quay. The harbour master was incredibly helpful, even answering the phone directly before our arrival, making the check-in process smooth. The harbour provides good shelter from most winds, offering a peaceful and protected stay.

NW Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This charming little bay is a real gem! The sandy bottom makes for a fantastic anchorage, and the cliffs surrounding the bay are truly stunning to look at. It’s also a great spot for snorkeling, as the clear water is teeming with colorful little fish. Highly recommend!

Otzia Beach / Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This is a spacious and well-protected bay with a sandy bottom, perfect for anchoring. It’s sheltered from all directions except the south, which means you’ll want to be mindful of any prevailing winds from that direction. While there are occasional waves from ships passing offshore, the bay generally remains very calm, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy the peace.

Spathi Beach

Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced:
We found perfect calm within the bay itself. We enjoyed a relaxing time swimming, eating, and simply enjoying the peace before continuing on. The buoys marking the boundary line kept us from getting too close to the beautiful sandy and pebbled beach, but we found good holding in 5-6 meters of water. It was a great spot to rest and recharge.

Poles Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This is a fantastic wild anchorage, perfect for those seeking a secluded and adventurous experience. The bay offers good shelter from northerly winds, making it a peaceful haven. Ashore, you’ll find fascinating historical sites to explore. We managed to find a spot tucked close to the shore, with good holding in sand. Snorkeling near the beach was also enjoyable, with plenty of interesting marine life to discover.

Kaliskia Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a real beauty, with the added bonus of ancient ruins within easy walking distance. We had the place all to ourselves and enjoyed a peaceful stay, securing our boat with shore lines on the east side of the bay.

Stefa Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This is a fantastic little cove! It’s a bit of a surprise, as the bottom rises quickly towards the shore, but we found great holding in 5 meters of sandy bottom. It’s a perfect spot for a peaceful and secluded anchorage.

Shinos Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a true gem, with breathtaking turquoise waters and an enchanting atmosphere. It felt like we were alone in the world! We found excellent holding close to the beach, in about 4.5 meters of depth where the sandy bottom begins. Just be aware that the bottom rises quickly, so you’ll want to use no more than 25 meters of chain to avoid hitting the seabed.

SW Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This cove offers excellent protection from northerly winds, making it a peaceful and secluded spot. We enjoyed a solitary anchorage in 10 meters of water, with no worries about weather.

Liparo Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a great place to stop for a short while. We found good anchoring in 4 meters of sand. It’s a convenient spot to rest and recharge before continuing on your journey.

Koundouros Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a real beauty, but anchoring requires some careful planning. The first 30 meters or so from the beach are littered with rock slabs, making it nearly impossible for an anchor to hold properly. We learned this the hard way – our anchor got wedged under a rock plate, and we were lucky to get it free. Beyond 30 meters, however, the bottom turns to sand, providing excellent holding. So, be sure to check your charts carefully and aim for a spot further out in the bay.

Pisses Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is gorgeous, but unfortunately, it’s not ideal for anchoring, especially as a second boat. First, the swell rolling in with a south wind makes it a bit of a toss-up for comfort. Second, the space between the deep water and the swimming area is quite narrow, making it challenging to find a suitable spot to drop anchor without being too close to others or too far out. We decided to pass on this anchorage and look for a calmer spot.

Mavrambeli Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a hidden gem! We had the entire place to ourselves for the night, and it was incredibly peaceful. It’s very well protected from northeast and north winds, providing a sense of security. Every now and then, a slight swell rolls in from the distant passing ships, but it’s nothing to fret about. We anchored in 7 meters of sand, which offered fantastic holding. A true paradise for a quiet night at anchor!

Xila Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: Opposite the beach of Xyla, quite frequented in season, crystal clear water, anchorage only in good weather: by Meltem well exposed to the gusts and by south wind the swell enters widely.
