Marina Kalantos

Marina
This is what sailors experienced: This place is incredibly charming, a peaceful haven where the only sounds are the birdsong and cicadas. We loved the cozy atmosphere of Vassilis and his family’s taverna, where everything is homemade and delicious. It was a truly enjoyable experience.

Kalantos Anchorage

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: The bottom is mostly sand with a few patches of seagrass, which are easy to spot when maneuvering. The water is crystal clear, and the depth ranges from a comfortable 12-6 meters, gradually becoming shallower towards the shore. Be mindful that there may be some shallow rock slabs closer to the beach.

Agiassos Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This spot offers superb sandy bottom anchoring! It’s a wild beach with a small Greek restaurant on the north side. There are several other small restaurants and a mini market on the small road going south. You can easily walk to several superb small bays at the south end of the beach.

Sauts De Rochers Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We anchored south, facing the wind with our stern, but experienced some quick sideways movement from the eastern gusts while feeding out chain short-handed. We also encountered intermittent swells, but everything held well, and it was super calm at night. We anchored in 3.5 meters with 30-35 meters of chain. This spot is fantastic! The cool rocks and great swimming are enjoyable even in windy conditions. While some day yachts came on the weekend, it was quiet and secluded at night. We even saw snorkelers swimming over from the beach to check out the rocks.

Pyrgaki Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We anchored in 6.5 meters with over 50 meters of chain on a pure sandy bottom. Our anchor dive revealed no stones whatsoever, and the grass was very sparse. The water clarity was exceptional, so we’d have seen anything if there was anything on the bottom!

Alyko Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This beach bay is a perfect spot for a lunch break and a snorkel. The rocks on the eastern side of the bay offer excellent snorkeling opportunities.

Hawaii Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This beach is truly amazing! The white sand is stunning, and the water is crystal clear. This is one of the most beautiful and cozy small beaches on the island.

Mikri Vigla Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This beach is gorgeous! It’s a fantastic spot for kiting, with smooth water and constant wind at the middle and far end of the bay. Beginners can easily walk to kite schools just across the bluff on the other side.

Orkos Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage is highly recommended for protection from a south wind. We spent a very comfortable night there even with gusts between 40 and 50 knots, and our boat held firm.

Plaka Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We anchored in 7.9 meters of water on a vast, white expanse of pure soft sand between Orkos Beach and Plaka Beach. The bottom was so clear during the maneuver that we were able to drop the Spade anchor without worrying about seagrass or stones. While snorkeling, we discovered individual shallow seagrass fields scattered around, but no rock slabs or boulders. The anchor has buried itself very deeply in the soft sand.

Anna Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a little rolly, but the water is crystal clear! Ferries and charter boats do come past, so it’s best to anchor away from the dock and dinghy in. The lifeguard boat even came by to make sure we were clear of the swimming buoy. It’s a great little spot, and we anchored in 5 meters.

Agios Prokopios Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay provided great shelter from 30+ knot Meltemis! We anchored in sand at the mid-point of the bay in 10 meters of water, right outside the swim buoys (which are pretty far offshore, around 100 meters). The holding was excellent, and the clear/clean water allows you to see patches of seagrass. Next time, I’d anchor further south to take advantage of a small concrete quay for easily tying up the tender.

Protokio Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This is a good spot with plenty of sand! It’s a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of the beach and holidaymakers, although it never got disturbingly noisy in this long bay. The only real disturbance is the swell from passing ferries.

Paralia Kleftonisia

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This well-maintained anchorage offers a sandy bottom in 7 meters of water. It’s located behind the town, with pleasant views. You can access the beach by dinghy via a small staircase on the right side, but there’s limited space to leave the dinghy. Alternatively, you can use the beach on the right, but be careful as there’s very little bottom just before reaching it.
