Kirikos Marina

Marina

This is what sailors experienced:
This small marina, though modern and well-equipped, offers a personalized touch. While most moorings are alongside the dock, there are also a few spots for stern-to docking. Vangelis, the harbour master, is exceptionally helpful and makes the mooring process a breeze. For the quality of the service and facilities, the price is incredibly reasonable. I paid €24 for a 15-meter boat, a steal considering the value.

Paralia Therma

Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced:
This anchorage is a gem, offering a tranquil escape with only two lines needed to secure your boat. We had the entire bay to ourselves, but it could get crowded quickly as space is limited. The small harbour is home to several restaurants, perfect for a delicious meal after a day of exploring. A nearby hot spring adds an extra touch of luxury to the experience, making it a truly delightful spot.

Nealia Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a true delight, offering a beautiful combination of sandy beach and rocky scenery. It’s well-protected from northern winds, although some gusts may occur. However, during strong Meltemi winds, prepare for a gusty experience! The sandy bottom makes dropping anchor a breeze, with excellent holding in 5-7 meters of water. You’ll be right in front of the beach, making for a perfect swimming and sunbathing spot.

Paralia Faros

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage offers excellent holding on a sandy bottom at a depth of 4 meters. While strong gusts are a factor, it’s still possible to stay here all summer long. However, be aware that it’s wide open to all south winds, so choose your days wisely.

NE Anchorage

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage is a great option for a peaceful overnight stay. The scenery is truly breathtaking, and the sandy bottom provides excellent holding for your anchor. However, be aware that a swell can develop, especially if the wind shifts to a southeast direction.

Paralia Agios Georgios

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This is a fantastic spot for a calm-weather anchorage or a daytime stopover. The two beautiful, coarse-sand beaches are a real treat. The location, perched on the very tip of Ikaria, offers breathtaking views. However, be aware that the anchorage has only moderate protection from pure north or northwest winds. You’ll need to anchor in 2-3 meters of water to find shade under the two rocky outcrops.

Paralia Lero

Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced:
This lovely bay is best enjoyed with a southerly wind direction. We found a great spot in 6 meters of water, about 100 meters from the beach, using a mooring line to secure the boat. It’s a great place to enjoy snorkeling and explore the nearby Dionysos Cave.

Paralia Kiparissi

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This spot is a true paradise! The sandy bottom makes for excellent anchoring, and the turquoise water is a sight to behold. The beach is a beautiful blend of sand and fine gravel, perfect for relaxing or taking a stroll. There’s also a lovely path along the torrent for a scenic hike. Plus, the weak winds make for a tranquil experience.

Evdilos Port

Port

This is what sailors experienced:
This port offers great protection from southwest winds, making it a safe and secure spot for boats. There’s space for 3 to 4 long boats alongside the dock, so you can find a comfortable berth.

Paralia Armenistis

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This is a charming little spot, perfect for a one-night stay. While it looked like a sandy bottom when we anchored, we unfortunately snagged on some rocks hidden beneath the sand. It’s probably safer to anchor further off the beach to the east, where the bottom might be more consistent.

Paralia Nas

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage is a dream come true! The scenery is simply breathtaking, and the sandy bottom offers excellent holding. It’s situated directly in front of what is arguably Ikaria’s most stunning beach. Even with gusty southerly winds, we experienced minimal swell overnight, making it a comfortable and peaceful spot.

SW Anchorage

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a real beauty, with a sandy bottom that provides excellent holding. We anchored at 6 meters with 50 meters of chain and felt very secure. We experienced some gusts, ranging from Force 1 to 3, and a little swell. The gusts were stronger coming in from the east, but once we were close to shore, the wind died down, giving us good shelter. This makes it a perfect starting point for exploring the western part of the island.

Paralia Karkinagri

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage proved to be a lifesaver during a fierce northerly gale, with winds howling at 40 knots out at sea. We found refuge in this protected spot, anchored at the 10-meter contour line, with the wind reduced to a manageable 15 knots. However, be warned: the seabed is littered with rocks, so proceed with caution when anchoring.

Paralia Trapalo

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage can be deceptive. While you might experience pleasant 10 knot winds, be prepared for gusts up to 30 knots from the mountain. There’s an orange buoy in the western part of the anchorage, and before morning light, a fishing boat often stays moored to it. Keep this in mind when anchoring, as you’ll need to choose your spot carefully to avoid any potential conflicts.

Magganitis Port

Port
This is what sailors experienced: This is a truly special spot, especially on calm days. It’s a hidden gem not to be missed. However, space is limited, with only enough room for 2-4 boats to tie up alongside each other. Depth isn’t an issue at the quay, with 4-5 meters of water available. Just be mindful of the ferry berth located on the village side of the quay, as it might be busy during certain times.

Paralia Seichelles

Port
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a stunning sight, with a wide sandy area stretching out for 100 meters. The scenery is breathtaking, featuring impressive caves and a turquoise beach. We anchored at 14 meters with our 3.90 draft, but it would also be possible to find a spot at 8 meters. However, be aware that there is a considerable amount of swell here.
