Astypalia Anchorages Overview

Astypalaia Marina

Marina

This is what sailors experienced:
This small port offers a convenient and affordable overnight stay. The town is picturesque and well worth a stroll.

Comfortably anchored in the sandy bottom with good holding. For just €10, we enjoyed the convenience of water & electricity.

Paralia Livadi

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This sheltered bay, just a stone’s throw from the main port, offered a peaceful retreat for the night. We dropped anchor in 4m of water, letting out 35m of chain, and found excellent holding in the sandy bottom. The night was calm, but as the wind shifted towards morning, a gentle swell began to rock the boat.

Agios Vasileios Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, this small bay provides a secluded refuge for a single boat. Drop anchor in the center, directly facing the beach, and enjoy the gentle sway of the northwestern wind. We found excellent holding in the sandy bottom at 4m, with 30m of chain deployed.

Agios Ioannis

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is mind-blowing! The rocky cliffs and the incredible underwater world make it one of the best I’ve seen in Greece. I dropped anchor in 15m of sand for a perfect day stop.

Kaminakia Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This is a good spot. Aim to anchor on the east side where you’ll find sand. We anchored in the middle on rocks in 6m, and while it held well in 20 knots of wind, it’s best to stick to the sand for a smoother experience.

Paralia Panormos

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage is a dream! Crystal-clear water, absolute calm, and a perfect sandy bottom. We anchored in 4m, letting out 40m of chain in the southwest wind.

Astypalaia Ferry Bay

Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced:
This bay, situated south and southeast of the small harbour, is a good option for anchoring. The bottom is predominantly sand with small patches of seagrass, offering good holding, and it’s well sheltered from southeast to southwest winds.

Karaflos Gialos Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: Anchor in a sandy patch located amongst rocks and seagrass, offering a protected spot with a lovely small beach within easy reach.

Vathy Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage is well-suited for a quiet and comfortable stay, with plenty of space and good holding in depths ranging from 5-10m.

Red Cliff Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This spot offers a sandy bottom with seaweed at a depth of 7m, just off the beach. The holding is sufficient for calm conditions, and the crystal-clear water makes it a visually stunning spot to drop anchor.
