This marina makes a great stopover, but a few things to note:

Back it up! Maximize your space by backing up as far as possible towards the shore, allowing room for the frequent ferry and shuttle traffic.
Tidal Considerations: Be aware that during low tide, the depth can drop to 2.1 meters, so check the tides before arriving.

Megalochori Marina

While the weather forecast predicted winds from the northeast, they unexpectedly shifted to the west, making for a very uncomfortable and turbulent night. Despite this unexpected change, the bay remains a beautiful spot, with its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking scenery. Just be mindful of the potential for shifting winds and ensure your lines are securely fastened.

Dorousa Agistriou East

This is what sailors experienced: This bay offers a good anchorage when the weather is calm. The bottom is 20 meters deep, providing ample room for your anchor. Be sure to secure a hawser (a heavy line) to the ground for added security, particularly if you anticipate any potential shifts in weather.

Dorousa Agistriou South

This is what sailors experienced: his bay is home to a captivating wreck, marked by two buoys and secured by two large ropes. While it’s primarily a diving spot, those without a dive boat may be able to reach it by swimming out with the help of the ropes. The wreck sits at a depth of 27 meters, and the two hawser ropes are anchored to the bottom. The abundance of jutting rocks along the shoreline provide ample opportunities to tie up your stern securely. The sandy ocean floor with scattered rocks offers excellent holding for your anchor. This mooring is well-protected from winds coming from the north to northwest, providing a haven of tranquility. You can reach the shore and town via a rock staircase on the western cliff, easily accessible by dinghy.

Agistri South East Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a breathtaking gem, boasting incredible beauty and crystal-clear waters. It’s small and incredibly picturesque, making it a must-do for Mediterranean mooring. There’s space for maybe four boats maximum, so it’s best to be prepared for a bit of a crowd. Winds can swirl around, making a Mediterranean mooring essential for security. The sandy bottom offers excellent holding, so be sure to drop plenty of chain. Just remember to be prepared for the unique challenges of Mediterranean mooring and the potential for shifting winds.
