Mykonos Port

Port

This is what sailors experienced:
The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, making your arrival a breeze. While the approach can be a bit tricky due to ferry traffic, coming from the direction of Mykonos Town makes it easier.Remember, be sure to book your reservation online in advance.

Agios Stefanos Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This spot proved to be a solid, if not glamorous, holding ground while we waited for our marina berth. With the wind howling at 25-30 knots, we dropped anchor in 7 meters of water, laying out a hefty 40 meters of chain – and it held like a rock! The sand bottom gave us a peaceful night’s sleep after our overnight passage, though there was some weed around.

Paralia Agios Sostis

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage provided a peaceful haven despite the 25-knot winds. Anchored in 6 meters of good sandy bottom, our boat remained remarkably still, with minimal rolling. While the beach was a bit quiet, the crystal-clear water and the lack of noise at night made it an ideal spot for a relaxing stay.

Panormos Beaach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage offered a pleasant respite with its broad sandy beach and the intriguing ruins of a larger structure onshore. Anchored securely in 5 meters of good sand with 35 meters of chain.

Paralia Ftelias

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay is a true gem! The excellent holding in sand provides a safe haven, especially with the prevailing southwest winds. While the wind was gusting over 25 knots on entry, it dropped to under 10 knots once inside the bay. The nearby sandy beach and a bar just up on the hill added to the charm, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing break.

Frangias Beach

Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced:
This anchorage is a true gem with 20-knot northerly winds. The sandy bottom provided excellent holding, and, initially, a welcome respite from the pesky flies.

Lia Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage offers a peaceful respite, though it lacks shelter from the northerly wind, a common theme in this region. The sandy bottom provides reliable holding, and the quiet beach with its beach taverna adds a touch of charm.

Kalafati Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage is a bit of a mixed bag. While the sandy bottom provides good holding, the lack of charm (aside from some ruins) and the constant circling of motorboats creating unwelcome swell detract from the experience. It’s a spot best avoided unless you’re desperate for a place to drop anchor.

Agia Anna Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage offers a peaceful retreat with good holding in the sand, but it’s best to stay west of the private mooring. I wouldn’t venture further east due to submerged rocks near the stairs. The bay is quite pretty and offers shelter from most directions except the south to south-easterly winds.

Paralia Kalo Livadi

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage provided a comfortable overnight stay with good holding in the sand. While buoys were present, their status (private or public) remained unclear. For environmental and security reasons, I would prefer to use a buoy if available and permitted.

Beaches & Anchorages of Mykonos

The waters surrounding Mykonos Island are sprinkled with idyllic beaches, each offering its own unique charm. The legendary Paradise Beach, with its famed beach parties, is a must-visit for those seeking vibrant nightlife. And for those seeking adventure, the secluded coves of Agios Sostis and Panormos offer secluded anchorages where you can connect with the island's wilder side. Remember, while the siren song of these beaches is tempting, it's best to check for safe anchorages before dropping your anchor, lest you find yourself shipwrecked in the heart of the Aegean.
