Tilos Anchorages Overview

Tilos Marina

Marina
This is what sailors experienced: While this charming marina offers excellent protection from the wind, a gentle swell may occasionally make its way inside. Though basic in its amenities, it boasts a delightful charm. Electricity and water are available for a small fee, adding to the convenience of this delightful little haven.

Paralia Kokkini

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay, though tempting, proved too risky for us due to the presence of rocks dangerously close to shore. However, it’s an excellent spot to anchor during the day for boats around 8-10m in length. The small red rock beach is a picturesque sight and a great spot for snorkeling.

Paralia Lethra

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This secluded pebble beach, accessible only by foot, offers a peaceful retreat perfect for a leisurely lunch break.

Skafi Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This beach is a real beauty, but be mindful of the wind gusts that can whip down from the mountain, especially when anchoring. A good spot exists at 6m depth on sand, though be prepared for a bit of seagrass.

Saint Anthony Marina

Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced:
Tucked away in a remote corner, this harbour is a peaceful haven. It’s a well-protected, calm, and simple spot, home to just a few fishing boats and enough space for up to 4 sailboats.

Paralia Plaka

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: Despite being in 6-7m of water with 22m of chain, a consistent swell kept our boat swaying. However, after anchoring in the sand between patches of seagrass, we found a solid hold.

Limenari Beach

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage is truly magnificent, boasting a pink beach and a Martian-like landscape that makes you feel utterly alone in the world. It’s an ideal spot for a leisurely overnight stay.

Ágios Pétros Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage provides excellent shelter from the Meltemi, offering a welcome respite from the 30-knot winds outside. Inside, the wind drops to a comfortable 7 knots, leaving flat seas without any waves. It offers good protection from the northwest, but be mindful of northeasterly winds. Anchored in 8m, we found excellent holding. It’s a truly beautiful spot to drop anchor.

Paralia Eristos

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: Anchoring here offers excellent holding on sand, gradually deepening from 3-8m over a distance of approximately 190m from the beach. However, avoid anchoring within 30m of the shore as flat stones make for poor holding. We experienced a 25 knot Meltemi with no swell, and our anchor held firm.

Paralia Stavros

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This small bay, though equipped with lines ashore, is susceptible to some swell, though it remains comfortable in light winds. Be aware of gusts, particularly those that may be generated by the wind turning at the outer corner.

Paralia Tholos

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This beautiful, wide bay offers a dense sand bottom with good holding, at least in light winds. While it’s likely not ideal in high winds, the rocky shoreline on the north side adds to the picturesque charm.

Paralia Agios Sergios Pot.-1

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage is a picturesque spot for a daytime stop when conditions allow. While the anchor holds moderately well on the rocky bottom, it’s best to anchor in the middle of the bay at 7-8m with a good length of chain. With a westerly wind, ensure your stern is at least 20m from the rocks behind you. The landscape here is truly magnificent.

Paralia Agios Sergios Pot.-2

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This is a lovely anchorage. We dropped anchor in 9m of water, using 40m of chain. Be mindful of shallow rocks and aim for a sandy bottom when anchoring.

Stafanos Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This is a charming spot to spend some time, but finding the perfect anchorage can be a bit tricky due to the deeper-than-expected waters. It’s about 12m deep on average, requiring a good amount of chain to set a solid anchor. However, once you’re settled, the beautiful swimming is well worth the effort!
