Lesvos Anchorages Overview

Ads

Skala Loutron

Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced:
This charming anchorage offers excellent protection from northerly winds, particularly on the harboyr and construction site side. While gusts can be felt more noticeably on the north side, the overall shelter is impressive. There’s no swell to worry about, and you’ll find convenient access to water and electricity on a quayside terminal, free of charge. Two outlets are available – one 16A and one 32A – but you’ll need a 32/16 adapter for compatibility.

Skala Loutron Southern Anchorage

Anchorage

This is what sailors experienced:
The surroundings here are truly delightful. While the anchorage is well-protected from northerly winds, it might offer even greater shelter from southerly winds.

Important note: be aware of the wreck of a large vessel in the area. It’s clearly marked by six well-lit buoys at night, so navigation should be straightforward.

Paralia Agios Ermogenis

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We dropped anchor at the western end of the anchorage, in about 12 meters of water, just outside the swimming buoys. The bottom is mostly weed, but we found a good hold without any issues. There’s also the option to run a line to the rocks on the western side, which offers ample depth.

Paralia Charamida

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This bay boasts a long, inviting beach with ample space for anchoring. While the swimmer buoys do occupy a significant portion of the sandy bottom, it’s still possible to find good sand just behind them. We opted for the eastern side of the bay, where the sand is plentiful and the crowds are less dense.

Mytilini Marina

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We enjoyed a comfortable stay here, stern-to with slime lines. Electricity and water were readily available, too. While there’s security at the gate, visiting yachts aren’t secured on locked pontoons. The office staff was incredibly helpful, assisting us with requests.

Paralia Pamfila

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: The approach from the southeast is straightforward, even at night. While the seabed isn’t sandy, it’s thick mud with patches of seaweed, providing excellent holding. However, resetting the anchor might be a challenge due to the mud clinging to it. We stopped in 4.5 meters of crystal-clear water, which made spotting the anchor a breeze. While there weren’t strong winds during our stay, the northerly afternoon breeze seemed to be less intense compared to outside the bay. I’d say it offers decent protection from the Meltemi, though it’s exposed to the northeast, east, and southeast.

Mistegnon Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: We dropped anchor in about 6-7 meters of clear water, finding a good spot in the sand between the small port and the swimming area. Our dinghy was conveniently moored in the fishing port.

Paralia Xampelia

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This anchorage is a good choice in pleasant weather, offering a sandy bottom with excellent holding in 4-6 meters of water.

Asproniso Bay

Anchorage
This is what sailors experienced: This secluded spot is ideal for up to 3-4 boats, especially if everyone maintains a bit of space. It’s a truly wild and beautiful location, perfect for those seeking a bit of solitude. There were no snagging issues between the two islands, and the anchorage held up well even in moderate northwest winds, with no noticeable swell.
