We anchored on the south side, securing a line ashore for added peace of mind. The calm waters, free from any swell, created a perfect setting for relaxation. A few curious goats ventured down to the beach, adding a touch of charm to the scene. Beneath the surface, the seabed revealed a fascinating ecosystem teeming with barnacles, razor clams, mollusks, and starfish – a delight for snorkelers and nature enthusiasts alike.

We shared this anchorage with another catamaran, dropping anchor in 10m of sand in front of the first beach after Asos. While the bay bustles with swimmers during the day, the evenings are peaceful.

This little harbour is a true gem, boasting stunning scenery and a rewarding hike up to the castle, where panoramic views await. Sadly, our plans to moor on the harbour wall were thwarted by a rather inconsiderate sailboat hogging 3-4 spaces with a questionable parking job. A gentle reminder to fellow sailors: a little courtesy goes a long way in ensuring everyone enjoys these beautiful destinations!

This idyllic spot served as the perfect lunch stop before venturing to Asos. We anchored easily in 8m of sand, enjoying excellent holding. However, a large jellyfish greeted us upon arrival, so keep your eyes peeled! The calm conditions ensured minimal swell, allowing us to fully appreciate the beauty of the beach and its crystal-clear water.

This anchorage is a visual feast, boasting incredibly clear water that invites exploration. While the bottom is predominantly rocky with patches of seaweed and sand, the rocks are easily visible, allowing for careful anchor placement. We secured our position in a sandy patch at 10m, enjoying excellent holding. A bit of swell rolled in during the night, but it was nothing to worry about.

This anchorage has become a trusted favorite, offering peaceful nights and a sense of tranquility. We’ve anchored here on three separate occasions, always finding secure holding in 5m of sand. And let’s not forget the fantastic restaurant onshore, serving up delicious meals that complete the perfect experience.

This spot is pure joy for anchoring enthusiasts! No need for overthinking or complicated maneuvers – simply drop your anchor and voilà, you’re set! The holding is immediate and secure, with ample space to spread out and enjoy the crystal-clear water.

We sought refuge in this port for two nights, securing our vessel alongside a low concrete dock amidst 20 knots of north-northwesterly wind. The mooring ropes, though rusty, proved reliable. We found a depth of 3.3 meters at the lowest point. Be aware that swell enters the harbour, creating a backwash that necessitates ample fender protection for your boat. While we encountered no pests or rodents, the presence of litter was regrettable.
This is what sailors experienced:
We anchored here for a peaceful onboard meal, enjoying the calm conditions. However, the occasional ferry wake and passing boats created a slight roll, so be prepared for a gentle rocking motion. While the water was clear and inviting, the surrounding area consisted mainly of a hotel beach, offering little in the way of exploration. We anchored easily in 4m of sand, making for a convenient and relaxing stop.

We made a delightful lunch stop at this picturesque location en route to Spartia. Anchoring in 10m provided good holding, though the lack of protection exposed us to some swell. However, it was perfectly manageable for a brief stopover. The highlight was undoubtedly the swim to the beach – a truly stunning experience with crystal-clear water and breathtaking scenery.
This is what sailors experienced:
It appears this harbour has transitioned to private ownership. Upon arrival, two friendly individuals assisted with mooring and requested our boat papers and insurance. The overnight fee for our 38ft vessel was €20, including water but no electricity. Restaurants are a 15-minute walk away. We enjoyed a delightful meal at Milos on our first evening, but were disappointed by the simple fare and poor service at Koutoupas Paradise on the second night.

This anchorage provides excellent protection from the northwest, making it a haven during blustery conditions. We found secure holding in 5m of sand, enjoying a peaceful and comfortable stay. A perfect spot to escape the wind and unwind amidst tranquil surroundings.
This is what sailors experienced:
We enjoyed a peaceful overnight stay at this stunning location, taking advantage of the calm conditions. Anchoring in 4m of sand, we were the sole occupants of the bay. The nearby taverna hosted a lively Greek night with a buffet and music, offering a fun experience – though the music did extend into the later hours. However, it eventually quieted down, allowing for a restful night. Just be aware of the adjacent ferry ramp, as the ferry remains docked overnight.

This expansive anchorage provides ample space and easy anchoring in fine weather. Facing east to south, the sandy bottom with a few rocky patches offers good holding in 3-5m of water. Keep an eye out for some surface rocks to avoid. The view of Zante is simply breathtaking, and the clear turquoise waters invite exploration. The charming village of Kato Katelios, easily accessible by dinghy from the beach, boasts a delightful selection of waterfront restaurants. A truly pleasant stopover when the weather cooperates.
This is what sailors experienced:
We anchored securely in 5m with good holding. Despite feeling slightly exposed on the coastline, the calm weather forecast ensured a restful night’s sleep. The faint sound of music from nearby bars drifted across the water, creating a pleasant ambiance rather than a disturbance.
A note of caution: charted depths closer to shore seem to be deeper than the actual depths, so proceed with care.
This is what sailors experienced:
We found good holding in 7m of sand, though patches of algae require some caution when anchoring. Be prepared for a persistent, albeit gentle, swell.
A word of warning: wasps seem to be frequent visitors here, so take necessary precautions.

This location boasts undeniable beauty,…but be aware of the potential for uncomfortable swell. The bay sees a fair share of self-drive rental boats coming and going throughout the day, but they generally clear out by 6 pm, leaving the anchorage peaceful. We found good holding on sand in 3m of water and enjoyed a pleasant overnight stay.
This is what sailors experienced:
This spot has the potential to be a lovely anchorage, offering clear water and good holding in 10-15m. However, our experience was marred by an abundance of particularly aggressive wasps, resulting in several stings. While the setting is pleasant, the wasp situation makes it less than ideal for an overnight stay.
This is what sailors experienced:
Excellent holding in 10m of water. While a few wasps made their presence known, the abundance of turtles and fish more than compensated. A truly delightful spot!
