The fishing port, once bustling with activity, now wore a slightly forlorn air. The docks, though sturdy, held a collection of sailboats and motorboats that seemed to have settled in for the long haul. Time had etched its mark on their hulls, and the once vibrant colors had faded to a dusty patina. It was as if they were waiting, patiently, for the tide to turn and bring life back to this forgotten harbour.

The port was extremely dilapidated – the floating pontoons were falling to pieces, their wooden planks warped and cracked, and all the water and electricity outlets were vandalized, their metal casings twisted and useless. We moored alongside on the middle pontoon, carefully maneuvering our boat to avoid the crumbling edges.
Despite the obvious neglect, we had a very pleasant stay. The fenders needed to be touching the water, the pontoons and quays were that low! It was a testament to the resilience of the harbour that it still provided a safe haven for boats, and the charming decay somehow added to its character.

This little marina proved to be a safe haven, a welcome respite from the persistent NNE wind that had been pushing us along. The entrance to the access channel was clearly marked, though we did have to keep a watchful eye on the breakwaters, which were a bit on the weathered side. The marina staff couldn’t have been more welcoming, greeting us with smiles and offering helpful advice.
The washrooms were spotless, with washing machines and dryers available, a true luxury for sailors on the move.

We dropped anchor about 500m past the entrance to Sani Marina, finding a sandy bottom just outside the marker buoys. It took a few tries to get a good hold as the sand was surprisingly hard-packed.
This spot offered a fair-weather anchorage, but be warned, the depths here can be deceiving. We encountered readings as shallow as 1.8m in places, often over a thick layer of weed.
We initially anchored to the west of the channel entrance but ultimately decided against staying overnight, the shallows and dense weed making us uneasy.

We found a peaceful anchorage directly in front of the dramatic cliff face, dropping anchor in 12m of water. The night was calm, with a gentle 6-10 knot wind blowing from the south-south-west. It was a perfect spot for a quiet night at anchor.

This bay is a spacious haven, offering ample room to anchor in about 5m of water. It boasts a beautiful beach with campsites for those who prefer a more “civilized” stay. The bay itself is incredibly picturesque, and the excellent holding in the sandy bottom makes it a super safe anchorage.
