Prepare to be captivated by the island’s beauty, with turquoise waters, pristine beaches, and hidden coves waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re a seasoned skipper or a novice adventurer, Naxos offers a unique and unforgettable sailing experience. So, hoist the sails and prepare to be enchanted by the magic of Naxos’s anchorages.
Naxos Town (main base), west-coast fair-weather spots at Agios Prokopios–Agia Anna–Plaka, south-coast lee at Kalantos and coves around Alyko, SE Moutsouna in settled weather, while Panormos/Apollonas (north) are exposed; day trips to the Small Cyclades are popular.
Fly to JNX or take ferries from Piraeus/Rafina and nearby Cyclades. Yachts usually base in Naxos Town and work south/west depending on the Meltemi.
Meltemi (N–NE) can be strong. Best all-round shelter is Naxos Town (watch ferry wash); west/north roadsteads can roll, south coves give lee, Moutsouna gets gusts. Bottom is sand with weed patches—check holding. Fuel/water/power by arrangement at the quay; mind swimmers and reefs.
Chora for access and dining, Agios Prokopios–Agia Anna–Plaka for beaches, Mikri Vigla for wind sports, or mountain villages for quiet. Book early July–September.
Rent a car for remote bays; buses cover the west coast. Avoid anchoring on seagrass; Alyko cedar forest is protected. Carry water/sun protection and dress modestly at chapels.
