This charming little marina stole our hearts! Stamatis, the harbour master, is the epitome of Greek hospitality – helpful, friendly, and always ready with a smile. The peaceful atmosphere and convenient location near excellent restaurants made our stay truly memorable.

We found excellent holding in sandy mud just outside the harbour mole, anchoring in 12m of water. While there was some boat traffic, it wasn’t disruptive. The town itself exudes a charming vibe and offers all necessary amenities, including a laundry service – a sailor’s dream! Fueling up was a breeze thanks to the “man and van” service at the end of the mole.

This charming cove is a true haven, offering space for up to 3 boats. We enjoyed the luxury of having it all to ourselves, anchoring securely on sand in 13m of water with 35m of chain. The feeling of isolation was truly magical. However, be aware that swells can enter from the northeast, so choose your weather window wisely.
Fiskardo (northeast), Agia Efimia and Sami (east coast), and Argostoli/Lixouri (west side access via the gulf) are popular for shelter and services. Assos is scenic but tighter and more weather-dependent.
Generally good in sand and mud in the main bays, with patches of weed or rock toward the edges and near headlands. Always check set and be ready to reset if the anchor skates on weed.
Watch for ferry traffic into Sami and Argostoli, gusts near capes, and rebound swell after fresh northwesterlies along exposed shores (e.g., near Myrtos). Enter unfamiliar bays in good light and follow charted depths closely.
Sami and Argostoli offer the broadest services (fuel, water, supermarkets, ATMs). Agia Efimia and Fiskardo have mini-markets, bakeries, tavernas, and seasonal water options.
In peak season, arrive early for quay spots at Fiskardo and Agia Efimia. Some tavernas assist with lines for diners; local practice varies day-to-day.
Typical Ionian pattern: afternoon north-westerlies building, easing overnight. Plan hops and docking around the daily breeze cycle and allow for afternoon crosswinds when maneuvering.
Though Poseidon himself might test your skills with the occasional Meltemi wind, Kefalonia offers safe harbours and modern marinas for weary sailors. Fiskardo, a picturesque Venetian-style port, provides excellent shelter and a vibrant atmosphere. Agia Efimia and Sami, with their convenient facilities, are also popular choices. For a taste of local life, moor at the charming fishing village of Katelios or the sheltered bay of Poros, where you’ll find a warm welcome and a plate of fresh seafood waiting.
Seeking the secluded anchorages favored by nymphs and sea gods? Kefalonia boasts a wealth of hidden gems. Drop anchor at the secluded Antisamos Beach, where the turquoise water shimmers like Poseidon's trident, or explore the enchanting White Rocks Beach, where legend says Aphrodite once bathed. For a truly secluded escape, venture to the remote coves of the Paliki peninsula, where you might just encounter a mischievous sea nymph or two.
